President Lv Bin emphasized in his speech that China is a large ocean country, with not only 9.6 million square kilometers of land territory, but also 3 million square kilometers of blue territory -- the ocean. The Outline of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China and the Vision 2035 puts forward the requirement of concertedly promoting marine ecological protection, accelerating the development of a maritime power and creating a sustainable marine ecological environment. This requires not only strong maritime economy, military power, science and technology and other hard power, but also the strong support of other soft power such as maritime culture, maritime education, and maritime awareness. A nation will prosper only when its young people thrive; A country will be strong only when its young people are strong. To this end, Lv Bin made an appeal, hoping that teachers lead students to study marine knowledge, to train reserve talents for the national marine industry; hoping that students set up ambitious life ideals, committed to the development of marine science and technology, the growth of marine economy, and the protection of marine ecological environment, turning China from a large marine country to a strong maritime power.
