China Oceanic Development Foundation Held the I Love Ocean "Double Presentation" Competition

Teachers deliver a presentation of a great class about the ocean and students give a presentation about their love to the ocean.

Recently, the China Oceanic Development Foundation held the "Double Presentation" on I Love Ocean competition. This activity aims to welcome the World Oceans Day on June 8, improve the quality of the ocean-related talents cultivation program of "Donating Marine Libraries, Cultivating Youth Talents", foster teachers' enthusiasm for ocean teaching, and cultivate youth's marine awareness.

The competition is open to about 110,000 teachers and students in 34 schools engaged in ocean-related talents cultivation program of the China Oceanic Development Foundation, and the entries are divided into two categories: teachers' lectures and students' speeches. According to the requirements, teachers have to give a great lesson about the ocean and their entries can focus on ocean development, ocean rights and interests, ocean science and technology, ocean environmental protection, ocean and climate, ocean talent education, ocean culture, ocean cuisine and other topics and the teaching length of the submitted video should not exceed 20 minutes. Students should give a speech about their love to the ocean. The title of the entry is self-designed, the speech time of the submitted video should not exceed 8 minutes. The speech content should truly reflect the thoughts and feelings of young people who aspire to the ocean and love the ocean, and avoid to be devoid of real content and be adult-like.

The selection in the competition is divided into two stages: the preliminary round of the school and the final round of the organizing committee. Beginning from April 21, the school will organize experts, teachers to carry out the preliminary selection. The number of entries submitted by schools is determined proportionally according to the number of students in school. From May 10 to May 24, the organizing committee organized relevant experts to carry out the final selection, and held the "cloud" award activities on June 8, which is the "World Oceans Day".

In the category of teachers' presentations, there are 5 first prizes, 9 second prizes, 14 third prizes and 18 excellent prizes; in the category of students' presentations, there are total 15 first prizes, 29 second prizes, 44 third prizes and 58 excellent prizes in the primary, middle and high school groups. To schools and individuals that select entries with good quality and show strong organization ability in the activity, excellent organization awards (collective) and excellent organization awards (individual) are granted. The award-winning teaching videos and speech videos will be broadcast publicly on the online "Ocean Cloud Classroom" of the ocean-related talents cultivation program.

It is reported that since 2017, China Oceanic Development Foundation has launched the ocean-related talents cultivation program of "Donating Marine Libraries, Cultivating Youth Talents" to promote marine knowledge into the classroom, encourage schools to build their own ocean interest groups and societies, take the initiative to carry out ocean painting and essay competitions, craft making and cultural activities, etc.; to enhance the youth's marine awareness and attract outstanding students to apply for ocean profession and contribute to the development of a maritime power through donating marine books, training teachers, organizing marine knowledge competitions and awarding "Inspirational Deep Blue" scholarships to influential primary and secondary schools in old revolutionary areas and ethnic minority areas.
