“Beautiful Ocean • National Coastal Cleanup” Marine Public Welfare Activities

September 16, 2017 is the 28th International Coastal Cleanup Day. In order to promote marine environmental protection and condense the whole society's love of the sea, with the support of the Department of Ecological Environment Protection of the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), the China Oceanic Development Foundation (CODF), the Publicity and Education Center of the State Oceanic Administration (PEC), the Chinese Young Volunteers Association (CYVA), and the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center (NMEMC), the Hainan Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries and the Haikou Municipal People's Government jointly organized the Blue Ocean Marine Conservation Association's “National Coastal Cleanup for Beautiful Ocean” Public Welfare Activity successfully launched at the Haikou, Hainan, one of the main venues. At the same time, Dalian of Liaoning, Chongwu of Fujian, Qingdao of Shandong and other places also simultaneously launched this charity event.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary General Xiang Youquan stated that “International Coastal Cleanup Day” is an international public welfare activity that embodies the attention and efforts of people of insight around the world on marine environmental protection. By organizing the National coastal cleanup Campaign on the International coastal cleanup Day, we can effectively promote beach litter management, mobilize the force of social love, promote marine environmental protection, and raise awareness of marine environmental protection. This shared the same idea of the development philosophy of the CODF. Ecological environmental protection accomplished now will benefit our future generations. Therefore, CODF is willing to actively provide support for such activities in various aspects, and is willing to work together with all relevant parties to achieve the goal of keeping the coastline clean a duty for everyone. For the National coastal cleanup activities, he made the following expectations. First, let the “coastal cleanup” activity become an activity that everyone can participate in so that more and more people will  join this public welfare action, and create a good atmosphere of “protecting the beach and everyone is responsible”. The second is to promote the establishment of a long-term mechanism for beach garbage control, forming a good situation in which government departments and social forces participate together, so that beach garbage disposal work can be a sustainable work. The third is to create the “coastal cleanup” activity as a public welfare brand project known to all, and to form a branded and sustainable public welfare project.

The public is willing to participate in and promote the brand of charity activities with good results. The tireless and enthusiastic enthusiasm and energy of the volunteers touched and led more people to contribute to the blue ocean and the clean ocean.

It reflects the unremitting efforts and achievements of China's marine ecological civilization construction work, demonstrates the initiatives and experiences of China's marine waste control work, and reflects the vision and wisdom of the party and government to promote the sustainable use and development of marine and marine resources and the whole society pays attention to the ocean. Ecological protection and jointly promote the good situation of marine ecological civilization construction.

In addition, during the “International coastal cleanup Day” held in Baishamen Beach in Haikou and Dalian, Fujian Chongwu and Shandong Qingdao in the morning, volunteers sorted the collected garbage and filled in the beach garbage monitoring record card.
